I haven’t been a customer of DedicatedNOW as long as I have been with EV1Servers or TP/SM, however, I’ve been with them since July 1st and believe I’ve got enough information to start a review on them. One of my customers was launching a new business line for his business and warned me that he had specific criteria that needed to be met. Being that I know this customer exceptionally well, I also knew that he would need hardware that would live up to the hammering of several search engines. His only criteria was the fact that he needed multiple IP’s in different class C’s, as he tends to focus very heavily on SEO optimization.
I threw the scenario up in the Marketplace on WHTIRC and received a few quotes, not too many that were impressive. EV1Servers had already been ruled out, and TP/SM already said they would not accommodate my request. One person said that he would be able to accommodate my needs, so I decided to give him a try. I established a working relationship with Jay Silver (user: jayglate on here) and outlined exactly what I needed.
It took a little bit longer for me to deliver the box to my customer because DedicatedNOW did not have their available IP list current. The delivery of the box from me to my customer was delayed by a week, and as a result, I had to eat a week’s cost due to credit for my customer. I was not happy about that, however, I will do the right thing for my customer.
There was also a switch/router issue that knocked quite a few boxes offline about the 5th week into my service with DedicatedNOW. I immediately sent an email to DN’s support address. HOLY SMOKES, was I impressed with the turnaround time and the honesty of exactly what was going on. I had gotten a reply back in THREE MINUTES. I was VERY impressed with this, as this was on a Friday night, after standard business hours. The box was offline for nearly 4 hours while DN made the fixes to the router and then adjusted the duplexes of each machine to synch them back up.
I have to mention this again: Anytime I’ve sent an email to support, the initial response has taken no longer than 10 minutes to get back to me. And the one issue that I had was resolved in 4 hours, however, they gave a clear and concise explanation of what was wrong immediately.
The only thing that throws me off about DedicatedNOW is their setup fees. If you can get your boxes on a special, do it, or become a reseller for them (I’m not a reseller… yet). As I said, it’s not much of a review, due to the shortness that I’ve been with them, however, I’ll be back (run, Jay) with another review a bit later on down the road.
