Cheap, but random network outages (about 1 every other month)

CalPOP is definately the low-price leader when it comes to collocation space. They were very flexible on getting our dedicated cabinet setup.

However, there have been several seemingly random outages with no for-warning, and generally no explanation after the fact.

They appear to be in the middle of one right now. It started some time between 8:30 PM and 9:00 PM, and it's 9:00 PM now with no update, no answer to hot-line.

If it's planned outages, I wouldn't mind - just a long as they notify their customers in advance. If it's unplanned, then the whole "redudant network" claim is moot.

Overwall, given what we're paying for a dedicated cabinet, 10-MBPS of unmetered Internet and a couple of power circuits, we're actually quite happy. We would just like better notification in advanced for planned/internal changes - and follow-up and notification after the fact for stuff out of their control.

If Nordstrom's were a colo, that would be AT&T collocation. If Macy's were a colo, that would be Equinix . If Sears were a colo, they would be Savvis and some of the independants out there.
If CalPOP were a colo, it might be WalMart. Occassionally, it breaks - but it's pretty check - so you live with it.

Again, based on pricing relatively content.
