Korea Line Corporation Selects Blue Coat for WAN Optimization
Blue Coat ProxySG Appliances Reduce Response Time for Major Enterprise Applications from Minutes to Seconds While Reducing Bandwidth Consumption
SEOUL, South Korea, Nov. 6 -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCSI)
, a leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway solutions, today announced that Korea Line Corporation (KLC) has selected Blue Coat(R) ProxySG(R) appliances to accelerate the delivery of applications and content across its Wide Area Network (WAN) between the company's Seoul headquarters and its overseas offices in Shanghai and Singapore. Blue Coat ProxySG appliances have solved significant performance and response issues with several important Web and groupware applications that are business-critical to KLC and enhanced the work environment.
With Blue Coat ProxySG appliances, KLC has reduced file download time from over 10 minutes to approximately 6 to 7 seconds. In addition, before installing a ProxySG appliance, it was very difficult for the Shanghai office to access headquarters' ERP system. Now they have the same application access environment with the headquarters in Seoul, resulting in increased work productivity.
"KLC has to transfer a large volume of data across a long distance, and as KLC's business expands overseas, we needed a solution that provides the same application access environment with headquarters for our remote employees," said Yu Jae-gil, information system team manager for KLC. "Blue Coat ProxySG appliances enable us to provide optimized application performance for our employees located around the world, enhancing their work environment."
Blue Coat ProxySG appliances utilize the company's MACH5 patent-pending framework of acceleration technologies designed to accelerate all key enterprise applications, including: Web and secure Web applications (SSL), file services, email/Microsoft Exchange and live streaming and on-demand video. With the addition of MACH5 acceleration technologies, Blue Coat ProxySG appliances enable organizations to manage user/application interactions -- to stop undesirable applications, regulate less important applications and accelerate critical applications, even when application traffic is encrypted using SSL.
"We are pleased to provide a solution to KLC that dramatically optimizes their WAN for accelerating business-critical applications and reducing bandwidth consumption," said Kim Jong-duck, country manager, Blue Coat Korea. "Blue Coat ProxySG appliances accelerate the full range of business-critical applications, bringing operational savings and strategic business process advantages to customers."
