PHILADELPHIA, August 30, 2005 –1&1 Internet, Inc. has unveiled WebsiteBuilder, a powerful, feature-intensive new software available with all of its shared hosting plans that allows customers to create professional-looking and fully functional Web sites faster than ever.
Created in-house by 1&1’s 150-member software development team, WebsiteBuilder was designed with streamlined features—like simple point-and-click prompts and a built-in text editor—so that even the most inexperienced users with no HTML or programming knowledge can create, edit and publish sophisticated Web sites that include popular features such as a flash-animated start page, guestbook and forum.
“WebsiteBuilder puts more power than ever into the hands of the end-user,” said 1&1 Chairman of the Board Andreas Gauger. “People will be pleasantly surprised at how easily and quickly they can have a site up and running that’s just as impressive as any other out there. With this technology, our developers have made it all but impossible for anyone to say they don’t have the technical ability necessary to get online.”
Available to new and existing 1&1 customers alike at no extra cost, WebsiteBuilder includes a variety of design templates that can be customized with variable color options and an assortment of images. The software also features a WYSIWYG editor that simplifies the creative process with a full array of easy-to-use and familiar prompts, along with a Photo Gallery tool that lets customers publish photos online using additional templates and the option to incorporate music into the presentation.
Thanks to enhanced CGI (Common Gateway Interface) features, 1&1 customers can use WebsiteBuilder to further augment their sites with some of the Internet’s most currently popular resources. Additionally, the CGI capabilities, which can also be used outside of WebsiteBuilder, allow easy access to 1&1’s Dynamic Content Catalog, which lets users integrate real-time content from major news and information sources—such as the Associated Press and AccuWeather—within numerous subject categories like news, finance, sports, entertainment, health, science, high tech, travel, games, weather and more. Thanks to automatic updates, the content is a no-maintenance way for 1&1 customers to increase return visits to their sites.
