OC Systems Ships Response Time Instrumentation (RTI) for Internet Explorer

Measures actual end user response time at the browser

FAIRFAX, Va., Jan. 15 -- Response Time Instrumentation (RTI) for Internet Explorer, from OC Systems, Inc., measures system response times as experienced by the user during transactions initiated within Microsoft Internet Explorer. It monitors the start of an action (i.e., when the user requests a page or submits data) and when the result is returned and rendered. This data is used by performance engineers to reduce application slowdowns and improve the user experience for web-based applications or applications that have a browser-based front end.

"Because RTI measures the true end-user experience, organizations can understand performance from the user's perspective," said Oliver Cole, president of OC Systems, Inc. "Most organizations have no way to measure what an end-user actually experiences. They typically rely on estimates or use approximations, such as synthetic transactions, that do not necessarily reflect what the end user sees. This makes it difficult to identify and triage performance problems. With RTI they can focus on measurable improvements that enhance the user experience."

RTI can be used in a standalone manner or integrated with an application management system. When used in standalone mode, RTI includes its own agent to collect and transmit data. The information RTI provides can be easily understood by help-desk and operational users, while the available context data provides actionable information to the development teams when production problems occur.

Out of the box, RTI also integrates with any agent or management system that uses the established and open industry standard for Application Response Measurement (ARM) to provide immediate transaction tracing and decomposition from a user's PC through the back-end servers supporting the request.

"RTI is a simple and straightforward product to use and integrates with application management solutions the organization already has, such as IBM Tivoli(R), to provide a complete and accurate solution," added Cole. RTI recently received the "Ready for IBM Tivoli Software" technical validation, indicating it meets or exceeds IBM's compatibility criteria for integration with IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager.

RTI for Internet Explorer is the first in a series of response-time measurement products from OC Systems, Inc. based on its work helping clients improve the performance of complex systems. RTI Firefox is scheduled for release in 2008, with others to follow.

RTI for Internet Explorer is free for noncommercial use and $195 for commercial use. Quantities of 50 or more qualify for a discounted rate of $99. RTI for Internet Explorer requires that a Java Runtime, version 1.4 or 1.5, be installed prior to usage.

RTI for Internet Explorer is compatible with Internet Explorer Version 5 and higher running on Windows 2000 and XP.
