DEMO Alumni Launch New Products and Raise $49.5 Million
A Round Up of February's DEMO Demonstrator News
SOUTHBOROUGH, Mass., March 3 -- Just a few weeks after DEMO 2008, recent and past demonstrators announced ground breaking news for the technology industry. DEMO alumni milestones and successes are continually tracked through the Tech Perspectives blog and DEMOtracker. This month alumni from as far back as 2001 continued to make headlines with technology success.

(DEMO 2008) reported closing $6.5 million in Series A financing led by
Frazier Technology Ventures and Morgenthaler Ventures. The company
has set out to create the "world's easiest database" enabling
non-technical people to work with data as if they had a full IT staff.

announced the closing of a $3 million Series A round just a few weeks
after winning a DEMOgod award. The round comes from Sierra Ventures
and SCF Arizona. The Flypaper rich media application lets anyone
create, edit and share Flash-quality interactive stories on the Web.

(DEMO 2007) announced the availabilities of AIR and Flex 3, which
combine the real-time, dynamic capabilities of the Web with the
computing power and data features of the desktop computer. New
applications with Adobe Flex and deployed on AIR include Adobe Media
Player and Buzzword. AIR and the AIR software development kit are
available now as well as the Flex 3 product line as a stand-alone or
Eclipse plug in.

was re-launched as Google Sites, part of the Google
Apps hosted collaboration and communication suites. The company was
acquired in 2006. JotSpot delivered a flexible framework that enabled
business people to create custom applications.

(DEMOfall 2005) announced $40 million in late-stage funding
led by Advanced Equities Inc. The company has raised a total of $84.5
million and plans to use this round to "cement its leadership in the
market." The company's Application Continuity e-mail appliances aim to
ensure 24x7 operation of mission-critical applications, with the goal
of 99.99 to 99.999% uptime for businesses running Microsoft Exchange.

(DEMOmobile 2001) announced that Microsoft has "entered into
an agreement to acquire Danger, Inc." Danger and its software
platform were used to run the Sidekick and its devices have connected
with the younger generation as well as the Hollywood set.
