F3 Technologies Discusses Business Benefits of Knowledge Sharing Implementation

Upload Process

With Ascend(TM) Knowledge Sharing, users no longer have to use the cumbersome upload controls currently in use on most online applications. This upload control allows users to upload multiple files and entire directories in seconds from either the web-based Ascend(TM) interface or directly from Microsoft(R) Office(R) products using the Knowledge Sharing toolbar add-in. Upon upload, an email will be sent to every user with permissions to the folder in which the file is being uploaded to along with a link to that file. This feature can also be turned off by the folder owner as well.

Collaboration

Ascend(TM) KS offers a collaboration toolbar that integrates with the Microsoft Office(R) productivity suite. Using this toolbar, users are able to "check out" files and documents, make updates, and then save changes back to Knowledge Sharing, without ever leaving the Microsoft(R) product. This unique feature enables users to collaborate seamlessly across the Internet eliminating the need to spend thousands of dollars on a VPN solution.

With Ascend(TM) Knowledge Sharing, customers' information is never compromised in anyway. Typically, users within an organization use the company email system to share and comment on documents, which can use large amounts of bandwidth and storage. In addition, most email systems restrict the size of the document being attached to the email. With Knowledge Sharing, users simply upload the document to the appropriate folder, and the system automatically emails an alert to all users with permissions to that directory. This process conserves both bandwidth and storage on company email servers.
