Auction on September 16 of Click-to-Call U.S. Patents
Winner Could Gain an Unfair Competitive Advantage in the $45 Billion Online Advertising Industry
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 4 -- Click Interconnect, Inc. (CLICK), a Florida corporation since 1999, has retained IP Auctions Inc. to monetize its U.S. Patents in the "click-to-call" space.
"We are extremely excited about the opportunity to bring these patents to market for the first time. We strongly feel that our 'click-to-call' portfolio of patents is uniquely positioned to facilitate growth and add value to the online advertising space," says Ernesto Liebster, President of CLICK.
Companies invited to participate include Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, AT&T, Verizon, Vonage, Skype, Sprint, AOL and dozens of other qualified entities.
One of the key applications for the "click-to-call" technology is in the performance-based pay-per-call online advertising arena. According to Charles Stubbs, president of Yellowpages.com: "What we have discovered is that advertisers value a call more than they value a click." Last December, Yellow Pages.com, owned by AT&T, purchased Ingenio, the leading pay-per-call provider. The Kelsey Group, projects that "pay-per-call" would become a $1.4 billion to $4 billion industry by 2009.
"In addition to the pay-per-call application, our click-to-call patented technology has many other applications, including but not limited to search-engine-results, online directories, websites, advertising banners, auction-site postings, branded desktop buttons, and any communication delivered via email such as newsletters, statements, order confirmations, opt-in email campaigns, all part of the online advertising world. Our patent protection goes back to May 1999. Our portfolio of patents claims the front end to any 'click-to-call' transaction, no matter where the 'click-to-call' technology is utilized," says Liebster.
CLICK's original 1999 patent application was prepared and filed by Mr. Robert E. LeBlanc, a former patent director of Bell Labs. Mr. LeBlanc was also involved in the preparation and filing of the applications for the Verizon patents that were recently part of the infringement lawsuit against Vonage, which settled in favor of Verizon for $120 million dollars.
CLICK has identified dozens of companies that may be infringing on its patents. The acquiring company, with the adequate resources available, could aggressively defend these click-to-call patents and gain powerful competitive advantage on the online advertising industry.
