Synology Expands NAS Server Lineup with New Price-Competitive Models That Include Pre-installed Hard Drives
New Models Are Available from PC Mall and Amazon.com, Are Ready for Use Right Out of the Box
REDMOND, Wash., Dec. 10 -- Synology America Corporation today announced a series of NAS servers that include pre-installed hard disk drives. The new series are aimed primarily at corporate and SMB users who prefer buying pre-installed systems online to save time and money, instead of purchasing individual components. Synology previously has only focused on selling its NAS servers as enclosures without drives, allowing the end users to pick the brand and size of the hard drives that would best suit their particular needs.
"The pre-installed models not only give customers great convenience, but also illustrate how cost-effective Synology NAS servers are," said Cheen Liao, president of Synology America. "For example, the equivalent 4 bay models with 4 1TB drives, the CS407 4100 is priced at $1,599, which is 50% less than it's closest competitor," Mr. Liao added.
Synology has distinguished itself from other NAS server brands through its popular Disk Station Manager (DSM) NAS management software, which provides a wide range of applications including website hosting, standalone file downloading, surveillance video recording, photo blogging, and other applications that have, in the past, required a PC server. Synology NAS servers work with Windows(R), Macintosh(R), and Linux computers and networks.
