Ricoh Launches Versatile Aficio MP 171 Series for Small and Medium Sized Workgroups

Digital Imaging Systems Combine Advanced Capabilities with a Compact Design

WEST CALDWELL, N.J., April 20 -- Ricoh Americas Corporation, the leading provider of digital office equipment, today launched the Ricoh(R) Aficio(R) MP 171 digital copier, MP 171F digital copier and fax and MP 171SPF digital copier, Super G3 Fax, LAN, Internet, and IP Fax, network printer and color network scanner. Ricoh's new line of digital imaging systems are compact powerhouses capable of addressing a variety of document management needs including black and white digital copying, network printing and faxing, full-color scanning, and advanced digital distribution. The Aficio MP 171 Series is an ideal investment for small offices or medium sized workgroups that can help companies minimize document costs while increasing productivity.

Today's workplace demands the ability to manage critical documents and communicate ideas quickly and effectively. The MP 171 Series simplifies production of the most complex print jobs as the series reaches print speeds of 17 pages per minute, and comes standard with duplexing capability. PDF Direct Print helps eliminate network congestion by quickly printing PDFs without opening the application. Additionally the Mail-to-Print feature allows users to send e-mails with attachments directly to the MP 171 and the device will print the attached documents without the need for a PC and without launching the associated application. With a 250-sheet standard paper tray, 100-sheet capacity Bypass Tray and a maximum expandable 1,350-sheet paper capacity with optional 500-sheet capacity paper trays, productivity is enhanced as downtime due to paper replenishment is minimal. A legal-size platen expands the ability to copy, color scan or fax larger documents (up to 8.5" x 14"). An easy-to-use Control Panel provides access to all system capabilities and is straightforward to navigate. The Aficio MP 171F is an all-around powerful device that offers standard copy and Super G3 fax functionality for the office that doesn't require print or scan capabilities now or in the future.

Scanned documents can be distributed in full-color directly to e-mail addresses through embedded Scan-to-Email or to network folders via Scan-to-Folder, enabling users to quickly share files and easily collaborate on large projects to meet tight deadlines and make the need for overnight delivery charges a thing of the past. Advanced fax features, such as LAN Fax, Internet Fax and IP Fax utilize the power of the Internet and networks to help lower costs. The Scan-to-Media option provides executives on the go with instant document portability, simply scan the document to a USB2.0 thumb drive or SD card and you can take important documents with you quickly and effortlessly.

In addition to all the document features available within the Aficio MP 171 Series, the product line also comes complete with advanced security options. Scanned documents are protected through encrypted PDF transmission, which safeguards the privacy of critical and confidential documents. User authentication also ensures overall document protection by verifying the user's identity before allowing system access. Security is provided both when scanning documents as well as when faxing important materials. When faxing, document security can be improved by routing inbound faxes directly to designated e-mail addresses or network folders. Add the optional 80GB HDD to either the MP 171SPF or add the 80GB HDD plus the Printer/Scanner Kit to the MP 171 and unleash a whole gamut of advanced secure print features like Sample Print, Locked Print, Hold Print, Stored Print, Store and Print features, as well as Paperless Fax with E-mail Notification.

The Aficio MP 171 Series can be easily incorporated into any office environment including those comprised of stand-alone or networked computers. Users can connect directly to a stand-alone computer or to the network with either standard 10Base-T/100Base-TX Ethernet or USB 2.0 interfaces and can connect quickly to non-networked PCs using the optional IEEE 1284 parallel interface, IEEE 801.11 a/b/g Ethernet or Gigabit Ethernet. In addition, users can conveniently access or change a single system's settings or view print job status from the desktop using Web Image Monitor and can send meter data automatically with Ricoh's at Remote Intelligent Management System.
