TORONTO--BUSINESS WIRE--BlueCat
Networks, the IPAM
Intelligence™ company, today launches its Proteus v3.1 IP Address
Management IPAM solution and Adonis v6.1 DNS/DHCP solution. Working
closely with customers, BlueCat Networks has enhanced both solutions to
streamline the real-world IPAM, DNS and DHCP tasks administrators face
every day.
“So, we worked closely with our customers
to design a new user interface that instantly provides a consolidated
and up-to-date view of all DNS, DHCP and IP data – making it easy to
streamline operations and ensure management and security best practices.”
Proteus v3.1 introduces a redesigned management interface incorporating
task-specific widgets which make it simple for administrators of any
level to customize Proteus’ dashboard to meet their specific needs –
enabling experienced admins to quickly access vital server statistics
and less experienced admins to quickly familiarize themselves with the
technology. The dashboard widgets provide quick and easy access to
essential information and tasks from Proteus’ login screen to simplify
daily admin tasks. Admins can instantly view system metrics, such as
server status, performance statistics and overall system health and
quickly access key areas of the product for configuration.
“Customer feedback made it clear that as networks become larger and more
complex, the need to accurately track and manage them becomes critical
to successful IT operations,” said Luc Roy, VP of Product Management and
Marketing, BlueCat Networks. “So, we worked closely with our customers
to design a new user interface that instantly provides a consolidated
and up-to-date view of all DNS, DHCP and IP data – making it easy to
streamline operations and ensure management and security best practices.”
Proteus v3.1 also enables administrators to detect, track, manage and
eventually combine overlapping IP space – a critical task for customers
unifying two distinct environments after acquiring or merging with
another company. Preventing the proliferation of conflicting IP
addresses greatly simplifies the transition to a unified IP environment.
Additionally, all-new Proteus Blueprint functionality makes it easy for
any organization – whether utilizing Windows or Mac OS X – to migrate
their dns and dhcp infrastructure to a BlueCat Networks solution. And,
once installed, Proteus’ new one-step update process enables customers
to quickly and easily update to a newer software version without
intermediate software updates. A new one-step downgrade process also
makes it simple to roll back to previous software releases. This is
particularly useful for larger customers looking for a seamless process
to manage and maintain hundreds of appliances.
“RBS uses BlueCat’s solutions because they make it easy to manage,
monitor and troubleshoot our network on a daily basis,” said Royal Bank
of Scotland spokesperson. “New features, like the dashboard widgets,
one-step update and Blueprint make it even easier to configure, deploy
and manage the cutting-edge applications and IT tools our staff need to
maximize productivity and best serve customers.”
Capable of processing 110,000 DNS queries per second, Adonis v6.1 is
BlueCat Networks’ most powerful DNS/DHCP solution to date. It also
introduces Disk Partitioning, which enables admins to install upgrades
in one partition while keeping the current version in the other. Dual
partitions enable admins to install updates or initiate rollbacks to
previous versions at any time without inconveniencing users.
With Department of Defense, Intelligence and other U.S. government
agencies now mandating STIG testing as a pre-requisite, BlueCat Networks
has also updated the Adonis software to comply with the Defense
Information System Agency’s DISA Security Technical Implementation
Guides STIG that outline best security practices.
Ron Aitchison named Distinguished Scientist at BlueCat Networks
Committed to providing unparalleled IPAM, DNS and DHCP technology,
BlueCat Networks is proud to announce that Ron Aitchison, the
globally-recognized technical DNS guru, has joined its product
development team.
“Anybody that knows DNS knows Ron Aitchison,” said Richard Hyatt, CTO
and Co-Founder, BlueCat Networks. “He authored, “Pro DNS and BIND,” the
number one DNS technology reference book; has written numerous DNS
articles and blogs; and has published over 3,500 pages of
freely-available technical information on the web,” Hyatt continued.
“With over a decade of unrivaled highly-technical DNS experience, Ron

later this year.”
BlueCat Networks’ Proteus IPAM solutions integrate with its own Adonis DNS/DHCP
appliances and Microsoft Nasdaq: MSFT Windows DNS and DHCP to
simplify network management by making it easy for administrators to
fully integrate IP inventory tracking and allocation, along with DNS and
DHCP management. Administrators can design networks with a simple
conceptual view, then deploy and manage them across the organization.
When managing DNS and DHCP, Proteus becomes “mission control,” offering
full command and customization of configurations from a central, secure
Web-based interface to make it simple to eliminate all IPAM problems.
