Force 3 Showcases the Latest in Virtualization Architecture and Debunks Myths Surrounding Virtual Desktop Infrastructure at VMworld 2010
Tuesday August 31, 2010 06:59:07

SAN FRANCISCO--BUSINESS WIRE--Force 3, delivering the best in federal security, unified communications and data center solutions, today announced a unique reference architecture that combines industry-standard, enterprise-ready components to create a virtual desktop solution that provides direct cost savings and rich end-user experiences vs. a standard desktop solution. This announcement was made at VMworld 2010, the leading event for virtualization and cloud computing technologies, held Aug. 30–Sept. 2 at The Moscone Center in San Francisco.

“By using innovative technologies from VMware, Cisco, Violin and FalconStor, we’ve created a solution that proves that user experience and cost are no longer barriers to moving to a virtualized environment.”

“One of the main myths about implementing virtual desktop infrastructure VDI is that the user experience suffers, so we wanted to create a solution that can ultimately be cost effective and help to better manage resources, but also provide a rich user experience that is on par with a physical desktop,” said Sudhir Verma, Director of Data Center Solutions for Force 3. “By using innovative technologies from VMware, Cisco, Violin and FalconStor, we’ve created a solution that proves that user experience and cost are no longer barriers to moving to a virtualized environment.”

Force 3, one of a select number of federal VMware Premiere Partners, incorporated VMware View 4, Cisco UCS Blade Server, FalconStor NSS SAN Accelerator and Violin 3200 SSD technologies to deliver a rich user experience with high-quality graphics and multimedia that is comparable to a desktop solution. Force 3 VDI also solves typical storage I/O bottlenecks often found in virtual environments by using flash array, which optimizes the storage performance against data value and overall system cost.

“All of the benefits of VDI are built-in at a price point that is equal to, if not more aggressive, than desktop,” said Verma. “In fact, our testing has shown that this solution can substantially lower capital expenditure and operations costs over a 3-5 year period. Anyone looking at a system refresh, Windows 7 upgrade or is experiencing a large influx of users BRAC will find significant return on investment with this unique VDI solution.”

Sam Lee, Senior Solutions Architect for Force 3, will be participating in a panel discussion entitled “VDI Mythbusters,” where he will join VMware and Cisco to discuss the value that a VDI solution can bring to an organization, how agencies can balance performance versus cost, and where and when VDI should be implemented. This discussion will take place on August 31st from 12-1 p.m. at the InterContinental Hotel San Francisco.
