Anti-Spam Provider Postini Selects Equinix to Enhance Redundancy of IT Operations

Equinix, Inc. (Nasdaq:EQIX), the leading provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, today announced that Postini, Inc., the industry's leading provider of email security and management for the enterprise, will move a portion of its IT infrastructure from a carrier-owned data center to Equinix's Chicago Internet Business Exchange(TM) (IBX(R)) center. The move will enable Postini to enhance its redundancy and disaster recovery operations by leveraging Equinix's high-performance data center infrastructure and the industry-leading aggregation of networks available within Equinix's centers.

Postini's Preemptive Email Protection technology is a managed service model that protects enterprise servers and desktops at the perimeter, stopping spam and viruses before they enter the network. The solution handles enterprise email system security and management, offering spam and virus filtering, content and policy management, disaster recovery, industry specific content filtering, and protection from email attacks such as directory harvest attacks (DHAs) and email denial of service (DoS) attacks for more than 2,700 enterprises. The Postini enterprise messaging security platform guarantees 99.999% availability and provides a comprehensive set of policy-based email filtering tools and detailed real-time reports for email administrators who require the highest level of visibility and control of their email systems. In order to guarantee this high level of service performance, Postini has implemented a high-performance IT infrastructure that relies on multiple network service providers for redundant connectivity.

In addition to a reliable physical infrastructure with industry-leading security, environmental control and power provisioning, Equinix's Internet hub offers Postini immediate and direct access to an aggregation of leading Internet companies within the same physical location, including all of the top carriers, networks and Internet Service Providers. By conveniently establishing relationships with multiple networks within Equinix's center, Postini can develop a high-performance connectivity infrastructure that ensures the availability of alternate networks in the event of service issues with a primary provider. In addition, the concentration of networks in a single, centralized location also enables Postini to reduce the costs of reaching these partners in multiple, disparate locations and through traditional local loop arrangements.
