Blue Coat ProxySG Appliances Enable Global Mineral Conversion Technologies Leader to Stop the Bad and Accelerate the Good

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Sept. 18 -- Blue Coat Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:BCSI) , a leader in WAN Application Delivery and Secure Web Gateway, today announced that Imerys, the world leader in adding value to minerals, has selected Blue Coat(R) ProxySG(R) appliances to provide Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization to accelerate Lotus Notes, file access and Web communications for employees in branch offices around the world. In addition, the same ProxySG appliances provide Web security and policy control to protect against malware and Internet threats and manage Web applications.

Imerys mines rare resources to produce specialized substances that improve the products and processes of its industrial and construction customers. With more than 250 locations in 45 countries, Imerys routes branch office Internet access through regional data centers in North America, Europe, Southeast Asia and China. For Imerys, it was business-critical to employ Web security and policy control as well as WAN optimization at all locations. ProxySG appliances protect against malware, including Web viruses and spyware, provide URL filtering and manage the use of Internet applications for policy or bandwidth consumption, including streaming media and peer-to-peer file sharing.
