Generate Unveils Innovative One-click Technology at DEMOfall 07 Conference
Enables readers to dynamically extract contextual business information from any Web page in just seconds
SAN DIEGO, Sept. 26 -- Generate Inc., the market leader in enabling real-time contextual information, today announced the company is unveiling an innovative technology at this year's prestigious DEMO conference. This new Web 2.0 widget, called Generate gClick,(TM) is designed for publishers and media companies to enable their consumers to dynamically extract contextual, real-time business intelligence from any Web page, in a matter of seconds, with just one click. Customers include American City Business Journals' 40+ bizjournals Web sites.
gClick enables publishers and media companies to make content more contextual to their consumers while driving dramatic increases in non- editorial-based advertising inventory. gClick uses proprietary extraction and matching technology that analyzes Web pages to provide comprehensive information that's contextually relevant to what the user is reading. With one click readers can go from scanning any article-from anywhere on the Web-to viewing in-depth information about companies, executives and events referenced in the article. gClick enables publishers to dynamically access, leverage and deliver their existing repositories of content (e.g., article archives, services, classifieds and directories) and advertising, providing even more context to their users. gClick delivers an embedded relationship-mapping functionality that, in just seconds, shows readers how they connect to every company and executive referenced in the article.
"This game-changing functionality is a win-win for us," says Ray Shaw, CEO of American City Business Journals. "It enables us to dynamically integrate and match our existing internal data assets with powerful, external real-time context and data while delivering very compelling value to our users."
gClick can be deployed on Web sites in three ways: (1) As a browser add-in button that's custom branded to each publisher and media company. Readers simply download and install a client on their desktop. When gClick is deployed as a browser add-in button, readers can scan any Web page from within any Web site, allowing publishers to create new, highly targeted page inventory for online advertising and extend of their brand. (2) As an embedded link or widget on a company's published pages. (3) As preprocessed published content that allows publishers to embed links to companies and executives featured within the content on their Web sites.
"This technology now allows business professionals and consumers alike to access business intelligence, in context to them, with one simple click," says Tom Aley, president and CEO of Generate. "That's what Web 2.0 technology is all about: empowering people to be more efficient, productive and successful when leveraging the Web as a platform."
