FatCow was born in 1998 and the rest is history. We’ve grown our company with a dedicated group of talented believers in the notion that simple, old fashioned service and value still ring true. FatCow has focused our entire company on delivering the best value and customer service experience in web hosting to the small business user. We make every effort to make our services easy to own, easy to use and most importantly to provide real business value. And yes, we like to have fun doing it.
FatCow connectivity consists of three DS3's (45 Mbps.) provided by Espire, Frontier Global and MCI/UUNET totaling 135 Mbps of bandwidth. This connection is achieved through two fiber-optic connections (dual OC-12s), which allow us to quickly add bandwidth.
FatCow runs two Cisco 3660 routers to connect to the Internet. We keep a backup router onsite in case of router failure. Additionally, we run full BGP4 ensuring that any Internet connection that fails is rerouted immediately. BGP4 also picks the shortest path on which to send data.
The FatCow Data Center includes Sun UltraSPARC IIi servers with Fast Wide SCSI and 100 MB Ethernet. We use only UNIX servers running Solaris for maximum reliability and monitor our servers closely to ensure that they are never overloaded. Our average server load is in the range of .10 to 1.0. FatCow also maintains separate name, mail and administrative servers. Currently we host approximately 500 accounts per server. This optimal account density yields better performance, reliability and customer value.
The FatCow Data Center utilizes Sitescope monitoring software to provide 24/7 detection of potential problems. This allows FatCow to take preventative measures, ensuring that your website stays up and running.
